Provence

A little side street in Saint Remy

Day 7 - Well it has been an  interesting couple of days.  We left Bruge Wed. morning and it was a full traveling day.  Took a taxi from the hotel to the train station.  Took two trains to get to Charleroi Sud train station.  We then boarded a bus from the train station to the airport.  The plane was an hour late in taking off.  We were supposed to land in Marseilles around 4:30pm but got in around 530pm.  By the time we got our car and drove the hour to Arles we got to our hotel at 7:30.  Since I did not see any parking Sue went in to check in.  After a while she came out and told me that because we were late and our credit card no. had changed since we made the reservation they did not hold the room.  They made a reservation for us at another hotel just on the outskirts of the city.  I think this works out for the best since we went to Saint Remy today and made reservations at two different places there.  Tomorrow and Saturday we will be in the town and Sunday thru Wed we will be in the countryside of Saint Remy.

The Theatre Antique in Arles
Part of the Amphitheatre
Just another little street in Arles.
Today, after we had a picnic lunch in Saint Remy we drove back to Arles and visited the Theatre Antique  and Amphitheatre.  The Theatre Antique date back to the first century BC and the amphitheatre is approx 2000 years old.  It is still in use today.  It hosts Bullgames - they don't kill the bull.
Two antiques standing together.
